LCS completed B. Braun Medical’s Chemistry Lab tenant improvement, supporting their mission to produce the highest quality IV therapy products to caregivers and patients worldwide.

B. BRAUN MEDICAL SOLUTIONS FOR LIFE

As a private, family-owned company, B. Braun Medical, Inc. is a different kind of company. They are a major manufacturer of intravenous solutions and solution containers, and they’ve been doing this for 180 years. But it’s their commitment to patients and caregivers and responsible manufacturing practices that make them stand out. B. Braun is doing great things.

B. Braun believes in helping the quality of lives in the community and environment they work in. The company is committed to producing the highest quality IV therapy products and producing these IV solutions responsibly.

DID YOU KNOW?

B. Braun is the only supplier offering a full line of IV solution products not made with PVC or DEHP.

B. Braun generates 80% of its electricity needs onsite.

In 2014, all B. Braun facilities in Pennsylvania and California achieved land-fill free status. All manufacturing-related waste (non-hazardous) generated from routine manufacturing operations is reused, recycled, or converted to energy.

B. Braun’s Irvine facility has won a WRAP award (CalRecycle’s Waste Reduction Award Program) for outstanding waste reduction 15 times.

A LIFE-CHANGING MISSION

B. Braun’s products address some of healthcare’s most significant challenges, including opioid abuse, hospital-acquired malnutrition, and hazardous drug exposure. Addressing these healthcare challenges requires a facility that can withstand the rigors of day-to-day manufacturing operations.

B. Braun’s existing manufacturing facility in Irvine is undergoing modernizations as part of its “Solutions for Life” initiative to expand capacity and ensure the supply of life-saving fluids for hospitals, outpatient settings, and other care institutions.

A SMALL CONTRIBUTION

We’re fortunate to be a part of their initiative, completing three tenant improvement projects and several smaller projects at their Irvine, CA facility. John Haw, Sr. Project Manager with LCS, has worked on many of these projects. “It means so much more when you find out how important their work is. They are instrumental in producing life-sustaining and life-saving products. Contributing to a small part of something that matters for people in need makes you feel better about how you’re spending your time each day. You can do all different construction types, but this is more fulfilling because their work benefits society,” said Haw.

These are challenging projects. B. Braun’s manufacturing facilities are occupied and operational, and it’s our job to make sure there’s little to no construction interference to their operations. Communication with B. Braun’s team is critical. We’re building labs where real significant things happen related to people’s health. In the end, we’re delivering is a quality facility that reflects their product.

For the LCS team, sharing in some small part of B. Braun’s dedication to improving the healthcare community is rewarding and inspiring.

B Braun Medical new casework in chemistry lab

CHEMISTRY LAB TENANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

LCS completed the 5,835-square foot tenant improvement of quality control chemistry labs within B. Braun’s existing facility located in Irvine, California. The new space was outfitted with new lab workstations, lab coat storage, lab offices and cubicles, sample drop off, weigh room, and support areas.

The project included installing casework, fume hoods and flammable storage cabinets, lab benches with sinks, and substantial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Process piping included vacuum air, compressed air, natural gas, steam, and deionized water piping.

The tenant improvement relocates existing functions currently in Building 2 into Building 3 to free up space for refurbishment and capacity expansion of the Microbiology Labs in Building 2. LCS performed the work in an occupied facility while keeping all systems operational and isolating construction activities from daily operations.
