MiniMed,
Inc., a leading medical device manufacturer, selected LCS
as the turnkey source for the modular work stations installed
in the large laboratory and assembly areas within their campus.
LCS was able to complete this project on schedule by using
their own technical facility craftsmen who brought over 50
years of laboratory construction experience to this job.
The modular work stations allowed for each laboratory department
to re-design manufacturing lines simply by disconnecting the
bench utilities and moving the single work station to a different
location. This type of furniture was requested by the building
owner because of the design flexibility that is available
with each separate work station; lighting, shelving and height
changes can be made quickly and effortlessly. LCS technicians
installed over 500 individual work stationseach with
pressure regulated, ultra pure air and vacuum services.
The three building complex comprises approximately 650,000
square feet of advanced biomedical facilities, and will house
the worldwide headquarters for MiniMed. California State University
Northridge and MiniMed will conduct combined research, student
internships, work-study and other cooperative programs at
this facility.
MiniMed has been the leader in insulin pump therapy since
1983. Currently over 60,000 people in the United States are
using the MiniMed pump. The new facility will be used to manufacture
insulin pumps, disposable insulin cartridges and MiniMeds
approved sensor product.
